Background Information
I saw a vision of a couple getting into a carriage and it looked
like they were just married. The next thing I saw they were at
a train station with many armed men who appeared to be going off
to war.
Lyrics
Verse 1
Black Ties and Gray for the ladies of May
Who can hold a man so close
A carriage ride for a groom and bride
A uniform to fill for the South
There’s a tolling of bells
From deep water wells
A train ride North to the war
Who’s coming home, who’s not here anymore
Verse 2
Black Ties and Gray on the news everyday
Brother can you spare a dime
The new is old it’s all bought and sold
In the corners of your mind
Bullet riddled walls and 911 calls
A plane ride east to the war
Who’s coming home who’s not here anymore
Bridge
Black Ties and Gray on the news everyday
Black Ties and Gray children at play
Verse 4
Black Ties and Gray on a cold winter day
Campfires and candles in the night
They burned down Atlanta with a cardboard Santa
Just to show what they could do
There’s blood on the tracks and tax after tax
A plane ride east to the war
Who’s coming home who’s not here anymore?
